I think it was a bad idea for goCoax to pull the firmware for the MA2500D off their support web site since supposedly some users had trouble installing it. There have been important updates to the firmware as Maxlinear releases them. Other popular Moca adapters from Motorola and Screenbeam have firmware available to download on their web sites. Almost all popular products, from computers, to USB adapters, have firmware that can be downloaded. Don't penalize everybody because some people have problems.
